Security personnel have been strategically deployed across Abeokuta as anticipation builds for the Ogun Governorship Election Petition Tribunal’s impending judgment.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a robust security presence was established as early as 6:00 a.m on Saturday at the Isabo Magistrate Court in Abeokuta.

Security personnel, comprising the Police, Department of State Security Service (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and Amotekun Corps, cordoned off roads leading to the court to ensure a peaceful environment for the tribunal proceedings.

This heightened security presence comes as a result of the election petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Ladi Adebutu, contesting the election of Gov. Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as governor of Ogun.

The three-man panel, led by Justice Hamidu Kunaza, is poised to deliver its judgment on the PDP and Adebutu’s petition against the victory of Gov. Abiodun in the March 18 election.

In a show of support and interest, some party loyalists who were prevented from entering the court premises were seen waiting in the vicinity, eager to hear the tribunal’s verdict.
