The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Sen. Abubakar Kyari has extended warm felicitations to the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el Maulud, which commemorates the birth of the Holy Prophet Mohammed.
In a heartfelt congratulatory message, Kyari urged Muslims to embrace and practice the teachings of the Holy Prophet while continuing to pray fervently for the peace and unity of Nigeria.
He emphasised that love and prayers for the nation are integral to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), encouraging the Ummah to embody virtues of patience, love, tolerance, and perseverance.
Kyari also took the opportunity to reassure Nigerians of the government’s unwavering commitment to addressing food insecurity within the country.
He highlighted the multifaceted efforts undertaken by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security to bolster agricultural productivity and achieve food self-sufficiency.
Recognising the pivotal role of agriculture in national development, Kyari stressed that the government remains dedicated to implementing policies and programs aimed at supporting farmers and enhancing agricultural practices.
He issued a call to Nigerian youth, urging them to consider agriculture as a lucrative and viable venture, underscoring its potential to generate employment opportunities and substantially contribute to the nation’s economic growth.
“In our pursuit of enhancing food security and curbing hunger in Nigeria, we are diligently working to attain our goal of food self-sufficiency.
“We are in the process of formulating a comprehensive blueprint to help us fulfill our objectives under the President’s 8-point Agenda.
” This endeavor necessitates the collective efforts of farmers, security agencies, and development partners for us to attain success,” Senator Kyari affirmed.”
Acknowledging the myriad challenges confronting farmers, including climate change, limited access to credit, and outdated farming techniques, the Minister assured that the government remains resolute in its determination to address these issues and provide essential support to farmers throughout the nation.
In closing, Kyari called upon Nigerians to utilise the occasion of Eid-el Maulud as an opportunity for reflection on the teachings of Prophet Mohammed (SAW) and to unite in their pursuit of peace, national unity, and progress.
