2025: Katsina government earmarks N95.9bn for education development

The Katsina state government has allocated N95.9 billion for education development programs in the 2025 fiscal year.

The Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Bello Kagara, said this during the 2025 budget breakdown on Tuesday in Katsina.

The budget tagged “Building Your Future II” seeks to fast-track rapid and sustainable transformation of the state.

Kagara said the budget breakdown exercise was in line with the existing government’s accountability and openness policies.

He said the total budget size stood at N682.2 billion, with N157.9 billion recurrent expenditure, representing 23.15 percent, and N524.2 billion capital expenditure, representing 76.85 percent.

The commissioner said that N95.9 billion, representing 14 percent of the estimate, has been allocated to education development in line with the administration’s commitment to reinvigorate the sector.

Kagara also said that agriculture and livestock development got N81.8 billion; works, housing, and transport got N69.6 billion, and N62.7 billion was allocated to rural and social development.

On sectoral allocation, Kagara said the administration sector got N98.2 billion, and N302.2 billion has been earmarked for the economic sector, and law and justice has N6.2 billion while the social sector got N275 billion.

According to Kagara, the N157.9 billion recurrent expenditure comprises N51.6 billion in personnel costs and salaries and 15.4 billion in pensions and gratuities.

“Other recurrent expenditure: N70,433,774,742.47; debt servicing: N20,426,679,083.64” he said.
