Chief Barth Nwibe, a governorship aspirant in Anambra, says youth unemployment and an unfavourable business environment contributed  much to  insecurity in the state.

Nwibe, a  contender for the Labour Party governorship ticket, said this while addressing political stakeholders from  Anambra South Senatorial District,  in Igboukwu, Aguata Local Government Area, on Sunday.

He said that insecurity in Anambra had negatively affected the state economy.

“The root cause of our insecurity is unemployment, we need a government that can create opportunities,” he said.

Nwibe, also the Founder of Ugo Igbo Foundation, said there was need to complete all ongoing projects in Anambra State.

He regretted ecological problems in the state,  saying that it should be adequately tackled.

“We must take a decision to rebuild our state.

“If elected, I will complete all ongoing projects and do more.

“I will ensure that local governments decide their priority and executive them,” he said.

Nwibe said he would prioritise energy supply because of its importance to industrialisation and that he would collaborate with key businesses to activate Anambra gas resources.

“We have Orient Petroleum that is partly owned by the Anambra Government, we can support it to drill more wells to produce gas, we have businessmen who will be willing to finance the reticulation.

“We do not need any MoU with a distribution company to achieve this,” he said.

Chief Gaius Ezeh, the Coordinator of Barth Nwibe for Governor Movement, said that the 2025 governorship election in Anambra was crucial.
