The Kwara Executive Council has given its approval for Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to present a draft revised 2023 budget totaling over N239 billion to the State House of Assembly.

This significant development was confirmed through a statement released by the Commissioner for Communications, Mrs. Bola Olukoju, on Sunday in Ilorin.

The revised budget, amounting to N239,084,199,757.00, allocates 50.2 percent to capital expenditure, while recurrent expenditure claims 49.8 percent.

Notably, this revised budget is 27 percent larger, with an increase of N50,238,596,196.00 compared to the previously approved 2023 budget by the House.

The decision to approve the revised budget followed a submission from the Commissioner for Planning and Economic Development, Hon. Lafia Aliyu Sabi.

Sabi highlighted that the process for revising the budget began in June 2023, employing a service-wide and bottom-up approach.

Subsequently, a Central Budget Committee (CBC) conducted thorough deliberations and reviewed submissions from the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies of the Government (MDAs).

Sabi emphasized that the selection of projects for execution in the remaining part of the year prioritized critical capital projects aimed at stimulating economic activities in the state for inclusive growth and development.

Special considerations were also made to boost economic activities and enhance the living standards of the people.

Additionally, the cabinet approved Star Sewing Machine Limited, an international firm, to manage the state’s Garment Factory following a competitive bidding process, adhering to relevant laws.

The council meeting, chaired by Governor AbdulRazaq, was attended by Deputy Governor Kayode Alabi, Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji AbdulKadir Mahe, and all the Commissioners
