In a resolute declaration, General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of the Nigerian Armed Forces, has reaffirmed the unwavering dedication of the military to quell the security challenges plaguing the nation.

General Musa made this statement during a heartfelt condolence visit to the Emir of Zazau, Malam Ahmed ed Bamalli, on a somber Friday evening in Zaria, Kaduna State.

He conveyed his confidence that the prevailing security concerns would soon become a thing of the past, requesting the support and prayers of the nation for the military’s success in its mission.

Accompanied by a delegation of high-ranking military officials, General Musa extended condolences for the tragic loss of eight worshippers in a recent mosque collapse.

The CDS conveyed the Armed Forces’ condolences and offered prayers for the departed souls.

He said, “I am in Kaduna for the Passing-out parade at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna, but I felt compelled to take time out to pay you this condolence visit. As a father to me and the entire north, I count on your support and prayers for us to succeed in our various operations.

“I have been here several times, first as the Commandant of the Nigerian Army Depot in Zaria, and now as the Chief of Defence Staff. To God be the glory.”

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) had earlier reported that on August 11, eight worshippers tragically lost their lives, and 25 others sustained injuries due to the collapse of a section of the historic 150-year-old Zaria Central Mosque during a congregational prayer session.

In response, Emir Bamalli expressed his gratitude for the visit and commended President Bola Tinubu for appointing General Musa, emphasizing that the appointment was a testament to meritocracy.

He noted that the President deserved commendation for selecting a highly competent military officer from Kaduna State for such a vital role.

Emir Bamalli expressed optimism that the administration would effectively address security challenges across the nation.

He assured that the council and the people of Kaduna State would continue to fervently pray for the CDS and the government’s success in their efforts to ensure peace and security in Nigeria.
