Bello reiterates commitment to standard education, as nursing college graduates 1,069 students

Gov Yahaya Bello of Kogi has reiterated his administration’s commitment to foster standard education in the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the governor gave the assurance at the 6th Combined Convocation Ceremony of the Kogi State College of Nursing and Midwifery in Obangede, Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi.

Bello, who is perceived as the sole motivator of the college’s improved rating and academic excellence, said, “We’ll maintain priority of education development in Kogi.”

“My administration looks at education as a significant asset to Kogi, and we will maintain our priority on educational development in the state.

“This is because of the crucial role education plays in nation-building.

“I therefore wish to urge all students to focus on acquiring practical skills, not solely relying on academic qualifications to contribute your quota to the growth and development of Nigeria, ” he said.

While congratulating the graduating students, the governor commended the college’s management for the remarkable progress and visible improvements in the institution.

Earlier, the Provost of the college, Mrs. Hannah Abraham, thanked the governor for his immense contributions to the improved rating of the institution and successes recorded, including academic excellence.

“This significant rating of our college would not have been possible without the state government’s substantial investments in the institution under the leadership of Gov. Yahaya Bello,” she said.

Abraham, highlighted the school’s achievements, encompassing academic excellence, physical infrastructure development, staff training and welfare.

According to her, all courses of the college have received accreditation.

“This feat has made our college a sought-after nursing school in Nigeria.

“We are grateful to magnanimous Governor, Alh Yahaya Bello, for his substantial investments in education, spanning from primary to tertiary levels that we are a beneficiary.

Today, a total of 1,069 students that have successfully completed their studies here taking part in the convocation ceremony, ” she said.

The provost said that virtually all incoming students are qualified candidates, whose admission process has since been through the Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB).

She highlighted the resolution of the longstanding challenge of college’s hostel accommodation, with renovations to the existing structures and the construction of new ones for the comfort of students.

NAN reports that the college under the leadership of Abraham, the college has witnessed substantial growth, including the construction of classrooms, hostels, laboratories, and faculty buildings.

Today, Kogi State College of Nursing and Midwifery in Obangede stands as a fully accredited institution to the chagrin of the residents of the state.

Again, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has granted approval to the institution to offer the Higher National Diploma (HND) Programme in Nursing.
